Hemodialysis
Hemodialysis is a treatment replacing renal function. It is used when the patient’s kidneys no longer work. Hemodialysis takes place outside the body with blood circulated through a semi-permeable membrane separating wastes and excess liquids. Dialysis is performed several times a week as prescribed by your doctor, each procedure lasts about 4 hours.
Kidney and Abdominal Ultrasound
An ultrasound scan displays in real time the kidneys, urinary tract, bladder, prostate and other internal organs. Insight is gained into changes in their form, structure and function. The examination is painless and safe for the patient. Other imaging studies, such as X-rays, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, are ordered where necessary.
Peritoneal Dialysis
Peritoneal dialysis is a treatment that replaces the renal function and maintains the residual renal function. Peritoneal dialysis takes place inside the body. Wastes and excess liquids are filtered through the peritoneum – a thin elastic membrane lining the abdominal cavity and internal organs, which has a very rich blood supply. This treatment preserves residual renal function and urine production. It is usually carried out at the patient’s home.
Kidney Doppler Ultrasound
A kidney Doppler examination is a specialized ultrasound examination of the blood vessels. Pulsations and blood flow velocity in the arteries and veins are represented graphically and audibly. The examination is used to assess impaired blood supply in tissues, active autoimmune processes and acute renal transplant rejection.
Examination by a Nephrologist
Our team of specialists carries out physical examinations of patients with all types of kidney disease. Patients are interviewed during examinations in order to determine their symptoms related to the kidneys, urinary tracts and the entire excretory system. Ultrasound scans are conducted where necessary. Laboratory tests are ordered. Treatment and dietary regimen are prescribed. Functional tests to determine renal function and type of renal impairment may also be required in some cases.
Medical Documentation Analysis
The nephrologist performs an evaluation of laboratory test results and presented medical reports and documentation. The approach is used for patients with reduced mobility as well as patients requesting a second opinion from a nephrologist.
